I spent $2700 on this bed 4 years ago. I slept on this bed for about 2 1/2 years. I had to alternate between my Tempurpedic and our guest bed that was a traditional mattress. My back hurt just about every morning and my wifes neck was always sore. It didn't work for either of us. We gave it away and bought a Sealy. Something that we should have done to begin with. Oh well...

We bought this bed from a local furniture dealer, spending over $2000.00. We tried it out numerous times in the store, even bringing a blanket to take a nap. I fell in love with it there. We bought the whole system along with the recommended foundation. The first thing we noticed when it was delivered and set up, was the terrible odor. We contacted the store and was told that it needed to "air out" for a couple of days. Every morning we stripped it of all sheets and blankets, opened our bedroom window, let it "air out" and remade the bed before going to sleep. The next thing to happen was the foundation broke. We contacted the store again, they promptly brought us out a new foundation, switched them out and noted that the smell had not gotten any better. 1 month later, the smell was still there and the 2nd foundation broke. We contacted the store, they called Tempur-Pedic and and Tempur-Pedic sent us a "reinforced" foundation. Within a month the 3rd foundation broke. We contacted the store again to come and get this out of our home. Furniture West was fantastic, they told us to come in and pick out any new bed we wanted, we did and they brought us the new bed and took away the Tempur-Pedic on the same day. The smell never went away and the foundations were made of 1"x4" wood and cardboard covered with fancy material. The store staff took one apart to find out why they kept breaking. If your system is 5 to 10 years old, they may have used better material to build them with. Beyond that, it is a material that forms itself to you, by body heat. It is very difficult to get out of and you can NOT sit on the edge to do anything. It has no support! When you leave the bed, it resumes it's natual state. I now understand why NASA used it for astronauts, it conforms to the body, and keeps you in place. Great in the weightlessness of space, Not so great in Earth's gravity. We are still searching for a great mattress & foundation combo.

I have had the original TempurPedic for about 8 or 9 years now. It has retained its original shape. This mattress is the most comfortable I have ever had. I can lie on my back and the mattress fills in the gap in the small of my back. Feels so good. I will never get anything other than a Tempur Pedic in the future. As for that sinking feeling some people get, I think the newer models are a bit better at that. A friend just got one, and we tried them all out at the store. They have many more choices in firmness than when they first rolled out the brand.

I love this bed. Holds its shape, feels good to sleep on, changed my life. It still makes me happy just to get in.

I'm surprised you don't like your Tempur Pedic!
I LOVE mine! LOVE!!!!

It totally cradles you as you sleep and doesn't get cold or hot.

I have had mine for about 10 years and was considering replacing it - but it's still WONDERFUL! So - don't need to replace!

LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I used a waterbed for 30 years. After beginning to have lower back issues I researched several mattresses and decided on the tempurpedic rhapsody. It turned out to be one of the best purchase I've ever made.

The mattress is firm but really does adjust to your body. It does take a little getting used to. It's very different from a traditional mattress. I find that I sleep through the night now that my husbands "nesting" every time he gets back in bed during the night is actually unnoticed. The walking on the bed and not spilling the glass of wine is true.
I love the pillows too. I'm now pain free and getting more and better sleep! Btw I don't work for or have stock in the company, this is just a product that works for me and is worth every cent.

I agree with Doug. It's a gimmick. Bought one and it weights a ton. It's not comfortable at all. After the first week it stopped returning to its original shape. I'm going to put it in the guest room and let my mother-in-law sleep on it. I'm going to get a good pillow top and leave it at that. No more gimmick beds.

I guess it would be good for some people but found it pretty uncomfortable. Very hard to get up because you feel like you're stuck in the body-conforming foam.
