Does Sure Cuts A Lot Really Work?

The Sure Cuts A Lot software program from Craft Edge helps send the shape you want, including OpenType and True Type fonts, to your craft cutting machine. No special cartridge is needed to work with the SCAL software. Once you download and install the Sure Cuts A Lot software, you will be able to import various image file formats, such as SVG and PDF files, and run the user-friendly WYSIWYG interface to edit, draw, and weld shapes together. Craft Edge makes Sure Cuts A Lot tutorial videos available as well as a free online user forum to learn how to get the most from your craft cutter. Sure Cuts A Lot is compatible with your Windows PC (XP/Vista/7) and Macintosh (Mac OSX 10.4/10.5/10.6) computers and works with Craft ROBO Silhouette/Wishblade and Craftwell eCraft cutters.

Yes - I ♥ SCAL

This software revolutionized the way I use my Cricut. In fact, I seldom to never cut with my machine anymore UNLESS I am using something from SCAL.

As a graphic designer, I collect fonts. Currently I have over 15k on my computer and download more all the time. SCAL allows you to cut the fonts on your computer and sites like http;//dafont.com make it easy to find free fonts and dings (shapes) you can cut with to keep your creations cutting edge (no pun intended).

There are some features I wish this software had, like the ability to put text on a curve, but because I am a designer, that’s not hard for me to do in PhotoShop or Illustrator and then trace in SCAL.

I will not be with without this program. If the current legal battle between Provo Craft and SCAL has the same outcome that it did with MTC well then that’s just all the more reason to change machines.

The customer service at SCAL is wonderful and the forum is great. They even sponsor a site that offers you SVG files available for download and always cheaper than any cartridge you can get for a Cricut.

If you ONLY cut your fonts with this software, it is worth it. If you get adventurous though and choose to cut other images, you will be pleasantly surprised at all the options SCAL gives you.

If you don’t already have a cutting machine but are thinking you might LOVE the options SCAL provides, I would encourage you to get a cutter that supports their technology (unlike the Cricut). I personally will be replacing my Cricut with an eCraft because Craftwell is working with SCAL to make their cutter compatible.

I use SCAL2 for my cutting projects and very, very pleased with the results. I can print and cut (don’t have to buy the over-priced Cricut Imagine) and I prefer to color my images…not have a printer do it for me…buy store boughten cards if you want them colored already! I can sometimes bypass Inkscape and go directly to SCAL2 or Make the Cut (I also have the Fairy Cut software downloaded onto my laptop and use it occasionally.)and create my files. SCAL2 has the trace option, insert image for print and cut and alot of other features to numerous to mention or I haven’t had a chance to use yet.
