Protein Powders are generally used as meal replacement supplements for athletes and body builders to gain more weight and have enhanced competitive performance. The earliest variant of protein powder are egg-white based food supplements that was marketed during the 1950’s a s a response to the growing recreational and competitive body building market food supplement niche. Body builders use protein powders as food additive commonly with liquid foodstuff like fruit juices and other variants of beverages hot or cold. Though in practice, body builders take in more protein to build up their muscular mass, there is no consensus between dietician and food nutritionists alike if adding large amounts of protein in diets could enhance muscle development. This was based on a research that showed that the extra protein intake is duly metabolized and excreted by the body before it can be absorbed and turned into muscle mass.
