I had acne in my late teens and tried several products: Retin-A, Clindagel, Nuetragena T-Gel, Medicated pads, etc. They all seemed to work OK at clearing my skin for awile but eventually the acne came back just like before. I had high hopes for Proactiv Solution but the results were similar to the others - some clearing up the first two weeks but back to the same after that.

On the plus side they did quickly honor a money back guarantee after I returned the product after two months so it is probably worth a try if other acne products are not working for you.

What did eventually help me was a prescription drug called Accutane. It gave me nosebleeds and left me feeling more blue during the five months I took it but it was incredible at clearing up my face. I haven't needed any other product since then. I would recommend trying Proactiv first because it doesn't have the side effects but if your still not satisfied ask a dermatologist about Accutane.

I tried the Proactiv treatment for some mild acne and I felt a really strong burning sensation in my face. That's when I found out that I can't use anything with the benzoyl peroxide.

If you have sensitive skin, don't even bother with Proactiv.

I suffered with acne throughout my teenage years and into my 20s. After years of trying various products without success, the Proactiv Solution treatment really was a solution for my acne.

When I was a teenager, I tried using Oxy, which worked somewhat but also dried my skin. Later I heard an ad for a product called “Clear by Design” which used 2.5% benzoyl peroxide in a high quality base. Clear by Design worked great but after a few years they discontinued the product. I became desperate, trying all sorts of things including AcneStatin and the Lewis Feder product but they were all worthless. When I saw the TV infomercial for Proactiv Solution, I recognized that the main product was formulated in a way similar to Clear by Design. I ordered it and I have never used anything else for my skin.

The basic Proactiv Solution kit has 3 products: Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner, and Repairing Lotion. I used all three products faithfully for years. The Renewing Cleanser is a scrub. I was never sure the Revitalizing Toner really did anything but I kept using it anyway. The Repairing Lotion, however, is the most important product in the Proactive line.

Fortunately, my acne largely went away in my 30s, but I still keep a bottle of the Proactiv Solution Repairing Lotion around for occasional breakouts, and it still gets the job done.
