Does Planet Earth DVD Really Work?
Released in 2007, Planet Earth is supposedly the greatest nature wildlife series ever produced. The 11-part BBC series is narrated by Sir David Attenborough and organized so that each 50-minute episode covers a specific geologic region and/or wildlife habitat such as mountains, caves, deserts, shallow seas, etc. Before you know it, you feel like a minor expert on our planet. According to them, the first episode, “From Pole to Pole” provides a primer and overview of what is to follow, so that the information is easily understood and appreciated by viewers, they say. Emphasis is on conservation. There is the story of the polar bears’ changing behavior with climate change. Other wonders seen are the mating behavior of birds in New Guinea, Siberia’s near extinct Amur leopards of which there are only 30 in the wild, the vampire squid of the deep oceans and other mysteries.
