Does the Pimsleur Approach Really Work?

The Pimsleur Approach to learning language is based on the four fundamental ideas: anticipation, proportional interval recall, core vocabulary and organic learning. A student learns by actively participating in repetition of words while listening to the recording. This is an audio based method of learning languages. It’s a process where a student participates and becomes active. You will be given a substantial amount of audio books and you have thirty minute lessons on tapes, CDs, and digital downloads. The focus of the Pimsleur approach is proficiency in speaking and reading. Using anticipation requires the student to translate a phrase into the specific language. Proportional interval recall is a way of reviewing vocabulary at lengthy interims. Core vocabulary aims at teaching frequently used words to develop and understand the vocabulary at hand. The organic learning method uses the audio method to learn, speak and understand. Courses using the Pimsleur approach are available for a wide variety of languages, including Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, French, and many more.

I am currently working with the Spanish I series and it is remarkable how fast it helps your brain respond, understand, and retain. I highly recommend it! Just be careful to order it through Amazon or another reputable source. Do not sign up for just the ten day product. It is a marketing scam.
