Does the Oreck XL Vacuum Cleaner Really Work?
The Oreck XL Vacuum Cleaner is lightweight and powerful. They claim that with the use of the Oreck XL Vacuum Cleaner, one’s home will be cleaner and healthier. It comes in four different models, namely the Classic, Silver, Gold, and top of the line Platinum model. The Oreck XL Vacuum Cleaner is designed to suit one’s lifestyle, being flexible enough to fit under and around the furniture in the house, and is capable of cleaning carpets and extending their life by use of a direct suction and roller brush drive. Even stairs, ceiling fans, molding, bookshelves, curtains, drapes, and high portions of the house can be cleaned with this vacuum cleaner, they say. With their Saniseal system vacuum bags, dirt is locked in and the bag can be easily changed, they claim.
Oreck XL Vacuum Cleaner Reviews

I’ve used this vacuum for years and love it. I also have a Rainbow and love it too but is a hassle to pull out every time I want to vacuum so I use it once a month and use the Oreck the rest of the time.

I have had my Oreck XL for a few years. It is a great vacuum. I use it on carpet and hardwood all the same.
Prior to this vacuum, I was using a canister vac. It died so I decided to try something different. To me, the bag vacuum is SO much better than a canister vac. This vacuum goes places that a canister absolutely will not. I push this vac completely under my couch and love seat. The canisters vac are too big to go under there. You either have to move the furniture completely or just kind of go around it all. This place will get to stuff you haven’t gotten too in quite a while with the canisters.
I don’t mind buying the bags. They are a tad pricey, but it is not like I go through a bag a month or anything.
Another thing to note about the design, is the exhaust. The exhaust blows out the back of the vacuum. That may sound like a dumb thing to note, but on my previous vac, the exhaust blew out the front. Now imagine trying to vacuum your tiled kitchen floor with the exhaust fan blowing the crap across the floor as you are trying to suck it up. It just doesn’t work. It may have been just a poor design on my previous vac and not a reflection of all canister vacs. The Oreck exhaust blows out the back allowing you to suck stuff up off of tiles and wood flooring with out the stuff being blown away from you. I smiled the first time I vacuumed the kitchen floor.
With the purchase of my vac came a 2 year(I think that is right) service plan. You take the vacuum to an Oreck store and they would clean and replace the belt..etc, just general service for free. There are no Oreck stores near me so I could not take advantage of this, but I still though it was great customer service. You won’t get that when you purchase some generic vac at Walmart.
All in all, Oreck is a great vacuum and a great company. If this one dies I would not hesitate to buy another one.

The Oreck XL is a really good carpet sweeper for used, non-shag type carpets. Too much suction for shag types, and it clogs with brand new carpet lint. Bags are expensive. It does a terrific job with pet hair and “regular” carpets. My only complaint is that it has NO floor tools, so if you have mixed floor types you will need an additional vacuum. They “give” you a small vac to use for your above ground cleaning, but the bags are miniscule so IMHO it’s not suitable for floors. All that said, it does a great job on carpets, and I tend to use it on bare floors anyway to handle debris. If you have another way of handling hard floors, I’d give this a Buy.
