Does Make the Cut! Really Work?

The Make the Cut! software lets you get the most out of your craft die cutting machine. Now nearly any kind of shape you require for your project you can cut. The Make the Cut! software uses an easy -to-learn WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) user interface to make getting the precise design you want convenient. You can use any font installed on your computer as well as import designs in SVG, TTF, OTF, PDF or SCUT file formats and even convert “raster” image files, such as JPEG, GIF, and PNG into cuttable patterns, making countless numbers of images available. Once you have imported an image, you can use the Make the Cut! software to edit it into precisely the shape you need by joining, breaking, layering, etc. An online user forum provides advice and tutorials. The Make the Cut! software is available for download for Windows 7, Vista, and XP computers and works with Boss Kut Gazelle, Craftwell eCraft, USCutters MH/Laser Series, and Black Cat Cougar/ Lynx /KNK die cutters.

MTC is the easiest software out there to use with electronic cutters such as Pazzles, Gazelle, Craft Robos, Black Cat Cougars etc. It keeps getting better and better. The upgrades continue to be free after the initial purchase. It is one of those products I want every person I know who owns an electronic cutter to have. Too bad it can no longer be updated to use with Provocraft’s Cricut. All those people who now purchase this software will be be buying machines that work with this software. Once you try it you will be hooked.

I purchased MAKE THE CUT – BEFORE I bought my Cricut. After seeing the ease of use an the possibilities with MTC, I decided to buy a cricut. I was unaware that there were better die cutting machines on the market.

I would not have purchased the Cricut or all the Provocraft products, had it not been for Make The Cut.

I no longer purchase Provocraft products.

Best thing since sliced bread.
Customer service more than fantastic, out of this world.
A designer of software who listens to requests, participates in Debates, helps with webinars, sorts out problems that people have along with his trust bunch of helpers.
Can’t fault the program, the best money I’ve spent in s long time.

Take your crafting to new heights. This software allows you to design just about anything. You can use all kinds of graphics that you can trace and then cut. What is even better is the tech support and that fact that the developers are constantly improving the product with free updates. This program is now setting the stage adding features that other similar products don’t have. You will get more than your monies worth here. They have made MTC compatible with lots of cutters and are always looking for new ones to partner with. TOP notch program.

Yes - Best crafting thing I have ever bought

I bought my Cricut Expression after first learning about 3rd party software that enabled one to cut any fonts or svg images already on my computer with a cutter. I started with SCAL (the only player on the market at the time) but due to customer service issues (they would not let me upgrade to SCAL2), I later bought Make The Cut. I wish MTC had been on the market when I first started, as there is no other software to compare. Seriously, this is the one you want and the one you should buy if you want to use a cutter! Customer service is superlative, offering free weekly Webinars to answer question posted on their forums and overview new features as they are made available. The developer of the software himself responds to inquiries and questions with intelligence and patience. He is always listening to his customers, using feedback to continue improving MTC, making it the premiere software for cutting machines. This philosophy has made MTC more intuitive and with better functionality than SCAL or that crappy little green bug. And for those of you who worry about the lack of cartridges, I must put your mind to ease. There is a whole industry online of folks who make files for the sole purpose of being used in such software. Bloggers offer tens of thousands of free files on a regular basis, and many of the companies that sell images are continuously offering new images at low prices. You will find that you spend much less money on svg or similar files than you would ever spend on cartridges! This is important to someone like me, who cannot draw AT ALL lol. And, you can cut most any true type font that’s already installed on your computer, or gotten for free online. So buy a better cutter than the Cricut, forget those silly cartridges, and use Make The Cut!!! Think of the extra money you will spend on the cutter itself as an investment against the much bigger amount of money you will later save on cartridges and poor quality mats and blades. You will NOT be disappointed!!

I debated about this purchase for a long time and was scared that it would be hard to use or slow or….. But I finally made the decision to purchase and have been kicking myself in the hiney for not getting it sooner! It is incredible! It is easy to use, and not slow at all! Love this program!

Yes - Finally, a company that gives the customer what they want!

I love the MTC software but, I see a lot of other positive reviews here so I won’t go over all the good points of this program, yet again. What I do want to say is that this is a company that actaully listens to their clients, hears what they want, and then figures out how to give it to them. How different is that from that cutter company who just likes to tell the customers what they can have and never seems to respond to what their customers need or request?
And the people at MTC have given us all those things we wanted at no extra charge, just made them available as free updates to the original program. I suspect the people at PC couldn’t even begin to imagine doing anything like that.

Yes - MTC Rocks, even without a Cutter!
5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars

I bought MTC shortly after I purchased my Cricut in April, 2010. Worked better than any other program I had ever used. Very intuitive and not overwhelming when it came to features.

When Provo Craft settled their lawsuit with MTC, I chose to KEEP this awesome software & ditch the Provo Craft Cricut…along with all the carts I purchased, & accessories necessary to work well with that machine.

This software is THAT great! I can always get a different cutting machine, and I know MTC will work on it.

Other companies, such as Pazzles, Craftwell (eCraft machine), Sillhouette, & Cougar allow owners to use MTC. In fact, a lot of these alternate machines’ sales are WAY up because of the settled lawsuit with Provo Craft. Some machines are even on back-order because the demand is so great!

So I do not currently own an electronic cutter. Why would I keep MTC, you ask? I keep it because not only does it work with cutters, it ALSO works with PRINTERS! Yes, it has a print feature on it! How awesome is that?!

I was able to place graphics, such as an outline of a leaf with “veins” on the workspace “mat,” copy and paste the image, then print it on a standard size piece of cardstock.

Now when I am waiting on the phone, I can color the leaf patterns any way I wish, & “fussy cut” them at my leisure. Yes, it can be tedious, but I am still able to use this remarkable software without owning a cutter!

The company has a forum on their website with many helpful people who are pleasant and aren’t condescending. There is no “membership” to join and show off as a status symbol. Just a bunch of helpful people willing to assist newcomers to this terrific software program!

You can try the program for free. It’s fully functional with no “greyed out” buttons. The only thing that does happen is that a diagonal line is cut or drawn in the center of your project until you register it. Most of the time MTC is offered at a lower price than the MSRP. Some affiliates even offer incentives such as a certain number of free files you can choose from various graphic artists.
