I have just renewed for the 4th year and works well (for international calls), but was ready to ditch the device due to dropped calls. I tried everything, and finally changed the laptop it was attached to and have had no trouble since. MJ did NOT work with an ACER laptop and VISTA. Happy once again.

I got one and after saying on TV that I did not need a computer, I found that I needed a high speed internet connection to use this. I WILL NOT refer this to anyone. A bunch of lies that’s all this is.

I purchased Magic Jack in hopes of having a good source of communications with my home business. Unfortunately, I would have numerous conversations dropped at very key points of the presention. After only a couple of months I had to go back to my mobile phone to insure an introduction to the close conversation. Sorry Magic Jack.

Buyer beware! It’s cheap for a reason! It doesn’t work! I had Magic Jack trying to save some money on my phone bill. But my calls would drop, I would hear every other word, and sometimes, I could even hear background noise. Once in a while, I could even hear other people conversations! Scary to think, someone else might have listen to one of my conversations on a private matter, and I wouldn’t even known it!!!!

Magic Jack is a piece of crap and I would NOT recommend it to anyone. With a broadband internet connection it still is completely unreliable and annoying. Other than the constant skip skip skip miss every other word communication, there is a constant ticking in the line. Even at on $19.95 a year, it is still a rip-off.

My magic Jack worked for about a month then it started dropping calls. It would show as connected on me computer until I dialed then I would get a message saying I needed to connect to the internet. And I would need to at that point. It seemed like magic jack was disconnecting me. Now I just give out the number to people and companies I don’t want to actually talk to. I can still listen to my magic jack voice mail because I get them via email.

I have been using Magic Jack for a year. There have been no problems till recently. It will not let me call 2 specific numbers that I have called in the past and had no trouble with. There has not been much of a problem with clarity and such. The outsourced online chat help is a problem.Unfortunately they haven’t got a phone line to a live tech or customer service.For the price though you can not beat it. We were out of service 2 years ago with Verizon due to a blizzard. The Electric Utility had men working 24-7 but Verizon refused to pay overtime so it took longer for phone service to be restored and they offered no rebate for lost service still paid $100 per month. So Magic Jack isn’t that bad for the money.

If you are from a foreign country trying to contact someone from the US, then the Magic Jack might be worth the risk. To most people who do international calling, bad connections happen all the time and aren’t a huge deal when you compare the cost of international calls to the Magic Jack’s one time 5 yr price. If you are able to get in a few calls for several weeks before this product starts to malfunction, then the temporary service will have made up for the cost of this product.
Unfortunately, for the family friends that have purchased at least 2 jacks or more and for my own mother who purchased 3…it was a BIG RIP OFF!!!
Not only did we experience the same exact problems as the people mentioned above, but my mom was charged for the Magic Jack 4 additional times. They cut off our “5 yr service” after 2 months of sub par connection and usage. We tried to ask the company to resolve the problem, and we went through all the menus that the customer reps told us to go through(when we finally got a hold of a rep through chat after a dozen attempts and several hours).

After trying to fix the situation, they charged us..over and over again. My mom did not know until she received her statements. What’s worse…they aren’t refunding JACK!!!!

Terrible product, terrible customer service, terrible crackly connections, you miss important calls, and you can’t make calls. The only reason I gave the product a 2 was because it sometimes worked for 2 months until it worked no more.

The only Magic about this product is that your money disappears along with the disappearing service and disappearing customer service agents.

Save your money and use Skype. Don’t use this as your primary phone…ever.

You get what you pay for but in this case you get back a bit more. Compare what this service does for you in relation to the price and then think about your cell phone and land line bills. Calls from Iraq to Kansas are just like calling from Georgia to Utah and costs the same and it worked on our slow satellite internet service! If you feel like you need the security of 911 and recieving calls 24/7 without your computer running all the time then this product is not for you as a direct replacement for traditional phone service.
