Jupiter Jack Reviews

I have a Magic Jack and it works great. So I bought Jupiter Jack without checking it out. What a piece of junk! I never was able to get it to work. I tried with several phones and radios. Never Heard the first sound, not even static.

I am a broafdcast engineer. The JJ has minimal power for FM if the caar antenna is closeby. I opened my unit and found the antenna wire is a closed loop. I am going to break the loop on the ground side and see if extending the antenna wire helps. As it is now, the signal is guaranteed not to travel far to avoid interference in adjacent FM channels. (FCC requirement). There is a microphone built in as the jack disables the phone mic.
This is incredible technology (including the adapters) for $10. Shame it doesn’t work. Try the $12.00 multiple channel unit from Walmart. I don’t know the name but it has a mini jack into a black box with a gazillion channels and works on 2 “AAA” batteries.

Saw it for 9 bucks and thought why not? Used it with my Blackberry Storm and my husbands Droid. I don’t have a retractable antenna and I put my phone in my center console. I hear clearly and have had no problem with static near the airport. If the person you are talking to can’t hear you try turning your phone volume up…..best cheap buy ever for me.

So far the Jupiter Jack works pretty good. Both stations this uses are active stations in my town, so I worried about how it would work. But to my surprise, the JJ completely silenced the stations, no background noise, no static, nothing. Clear sound. Works great with the Pandora app on my phone also. Wish it would come with an extra battery though. Instead you get 3 extra for free, with a $2.99 s&h. First is included though.

I saw this item in CVS and was intrigued. Thinking I might like to try it I found this site and was quite amazed. When a device gets either 1 star or 5 it indicates a lack of understanding of its use and limitations.
1. The JupiterJack only costs $10 so it is obviously a steal if it works at all. Apparently it does, at least under the right circumstances.
2. There is no excuse for lack of customer support for any product. If you sell it you should support it. However you can\’t expect personal support for a $10 item, so support can only be provided in the package or the web site. I haven\’t checked either, so I don\’t know how much blame can be apportioned here. You should know the limitations of the device before buying
it.
3. The JJ is a very simple device. All it does is take the optional headphone output and convert it to an FM signal on either of two fxed frequencies, 99.3 or 101.3. This signal is then received just as if it were an FM station, the radio working normally.
It has at all to do with the talking portion of the call which is handled purely by the phone.
4. It is almost imopossible that it can cause any damage to the cell phone.
5. You must have good clear consistent operation of the phone normally or you certainly cannot get got results with JJ.
6. You need an open clear channel for this to work. Any station that uses the two available frequencies anywhere near the JJ will swamp out it\’s signal and produce mostly noise. You should drive around any area where you will use it at the times you you will use it with the FM tuned to both frequencies. If you don\’t get static-free silence at all times you will probably not be happy with JJ.
7. You should be sure your phone works properly with normal earphones or buds.
8. You should be sure that the adapter is compatible with your phone. Since I don\’t have the JJ yet I can\’t be sure what the adapters are but I would expect that the mini-plug mates with a stereo jack. A jack for a headset (ie both mike and phones) is wired differently.
9. The JJ must be positioned so that its small signal (as required by FCC rules) can be reliably picked up by the FM receiver. Experiment!
10. If you follow these rules and meet the conditions should either pass on the JJ or get 5 star performance.
