Does the Ionic Pro Air Purifier Really Work?

The Ionic Pro Air Purifier claims to be capable of cleaning confined spaces of up to 500 square feet. It also claims to purify air with dust & dirt particles as small as 1.0 micron, smoke, pollen, and other allergens. This is in addition to its odor neutralizing effects – Ionic Purifiers do this by injecting amounts of Ozone into the environment. There are a number of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) with one of them to indicate when the collector plates require cleaning. If the user does not clean the plates, the device will automatically turn off after a period. The Ionic Pro comes in several models including the Turbo, PurePro, Therapure 100, and Therapure 201D. The Ionic Pro Air Purifier is manufactured by Ionic Pro, LLC.

Yes - Easy to clean

I have hd two for quite a few years now and they do a nice job of cleaning the air. We both smoke. I use a regular household cleaner like Krud Kutter or 409 to clean the collection plates. Rinse with plain water. I also clean the air vents weekly. They do clog with dust.

I’ve owned this air purifier for several years and it actually finally stopped working a few months ago (not sure why). I used to be a smoker along with my husband and this air purifier was even able to handle the cigarette smoke; however the metal collector plates which you have to pull out and clean every once awhile would get completely covered in sticky gross nasty nicotine. I would try to use a brillow pad to scrub that off the collector plates but it would ruin them — SOS pads seemed to be an effective alternative and since they’re more disposable I didn’t have to worry so much after that. I also had to make sure to wear gloves because it’s hard and awkward to get your hands with whatever you’re using to clean the collector plates with in-between each section of the metal and I would get the dirt on the back of my fingers until I learned that lesson. It is exactly as described as far as it essentially only purifiers 1 room effectively, so don’t think even with a small apartment it will cover all of that. Finally, the only other annoyance is sometimes will make a hissing sound as it’s operating. I’m not sure why that is so I haven’t been able to get it stop whenever it does that.

All-in-all it’s a good product and it works very well, you can practically “taste” the cleaner air. I would recommend it; especially for the discount price we got it for at Costco. Just make sure you keep the collector plates clean!

I own two of these units and they do pull stuff out of the air but I am not sure it caught everything since the room air is always changing. It might be better to get a HEPA filter that applies to the home AC and heating system instead.
