Does Insanity Workout Really Work?

Click for More Info About Insanity WorkoutThe Insanity Workout promises a tough exercise regimen that will make you work out in your own sweat and get big time results, they say.  This is an extreme total body conditioning program that is endorsed by Shaun T who promises a full body transformation in 60 days, equal to what others could hope for in one year.  This program claims it can be done without weights, just one’s own body resistance.  It is a collection of 10 DVDs that can be done at home.  The important thing, they claim, is that you must have will power, dedication and a willingness to have your limits tested physically and mentally.  Shaun T, a former track star and famous trainer, created this program and said it is the hardest workout that anyone will ever undergo.  He claims it will give you the hardest body you ever had.  He adds that the 10 DVDs that comprise the Insanity Workout is not going to work for someone who is lazy or always full of excuses.  Rather, it is best for those who are mentally ready to get into peak condition, he claims.

Yes - The Name Says It All

They named this workout plan perfectly. Tis plan will work if you can stick with it. I was wanting to loose 20 pounds. The first 2 weeks or so I didn’t loose anything, then the weight and inches started falling off. By the end of the 60 day program I had lost 27 pounds. Like the other reviews say it is NOT an easy workout. VERY intense, and fast paced. At times during the water break I just laid in the floor trying to catch my breath, lol. I highly recommend it if you can handle it, there is one person in the videos doing somewhat easier or modified exercises if you prefer.

Yes - Not for the faint of heart--serious cardio

My husband and I bought this and started doing it together. It is the first workout program we’ve ever really stuck with. After a few months, we are feeling much stronger, more energetic, and have dropped some pounds.(We have not used the energy drinks or followed the diet recommended.) These workouts are TOUGH–you have to stop, take a minute, and get back in it. I can never keep up with the 20-somethings on the video. But since I paid the money, by golly, I just do my best and keep going. I would not suggest this for a beginner. ONe good thing is there is variety to the workout DVDs, a guide to keep you on track, although 6 days a week isn’t practical for most people which is what the workout recommends. All in all, it’s very well-done, there’s variety, strength building, lots of emphasis on your “core” strength, cardio workouts, etc. Challenging! Shaun T.–the workout leader, is like a man-machine, but he’s very motivating, explains proper form, etc. Hope this helps!

Yes - Amazing!

I used this program after having our 2nd baby. I didn’t follow the meal plan, I made my own healthy choices as their plan was too expensive and not realistic for a mom with 2 small kids. I was not able to keep up at first…I took 2 months to do phase 1 and then I did the whole thing over again and was able to do it all in 2 months, so a total of 4 months and I lost all the baby weight and felt full of energy. Love this workout!

Yes - Very hard workout

I used these videos last summer. I was super sore after the “test” video, #1. There was no way I could keep up the pace on these workouts. I could not do it 6 days/week. So I went at my own pace. It took me 2 months to get thru the 1st month. Just getting through the warmups on these videos was difficult — I could not get thru the warmup without stopping.

These workouts are for people who are already in good shape. I now use modified versions of some of the exercises. It’s basically hard core calisthenics. Good stuff, but this program was just too hard for me. I think it would work for somebody who really has the tenacity to stick with it, and for people already in good shape who want to get even better.

Yes - It's tough, but you won't be disappointed!

I used to run competitive track and so I saw the video on TV and thought how tough could it be? I was pleasantly surprised when I got it because the workout is at your own pace…it says at the beginning to check with your doctor before you begin and unless your are young or are in great shape, do it. Just the first day to check your fitness level is hard…although I went 110% and was doing more reps than the pros, but I burnt out by the fifth workout. I loved that the workouts are 35 minutes to 75 minutes and that it is 6 days a week because it keeps your energy up, great to start your workday. This is not a system to build large muscles, get P90x or do some free weights for that, this is to get fit and get ripped. Over 8 weeks I lost 25 lbs and I was not to out of shape to begin with. Yes the nutritional guide is a bit unrealistic if you are on a budget, but you can substitute chicken for fish and eat fish as you can afford. This is great for anyone because you can use it on the road or at home and it go at your own pace…and let me be the first one to tell you that when you begin you NEED to pace yourself even if you are a super athlete. Get this workout, you won’t be disappointed.

Yes - Great product, but for obvious reasons
3 stars3 stars3 stars3 stars3 stars

Ok, first of all I’d want to say YES I AM A REAL USER OF THIS PRODUCT. I want to point out that I only got a copy of the videos and for that I have no incentive to write this review only my experience.

Personally I didn’t know if this product would work well or not. Whenever I watch TV and see the flabby stomach to ripped abs I HATE IT. I got this free so I thought “what the hell why not?”.

The program basically works on the principal of what you put in to it will determine what you get out of it. It comes with the video routines along with a diet plan. The diet plan can be somewhat unrealistic to someone on a low budget. If I could afford to eat fresh salmon for 5 meals a day I would, but obviously at some points I can’t. It calls for some food that just isn’t cheap, but from what I hear living a healthy lifestyle is never cheap. Still it has at least 1 or 2 cheap recipes for the meals that you can make on your own (the diet book has a plan for 5 meals a day I believe). This is a diet plan you’ll have to work with the rest of the program along with their “special shake” which is pretty much a meal replacement shake that you can find cheaper elsewhere.

The workouts aren’t easy IF (BIG IF) you keep up with them. If you decide to not keep up to their pace you could find your heart rate dropping lower than what it should (you’re target heart rate is your aiming point). If you do keep up you will definitely find yourself tired (what you want lol). Obviously, do your best to keep up with the video so you get the best workout possible.

When doing this I lost 12 lbs in 3 weeks. What I have to add though is that it won’t make your ripped with muscles. It’s just not built that way. Your body can’t build muscle from high intensity cardio exercise. You will lose weight and tone up a little, but don’t expect to grow larger arms from doing push ups. Can’t happen that way. Still it’s worth purchasing if you have the money.
