Does Get A Grip Really Work?

Click for More Info About Get A GripGet A Grip is a portable handle that can be used in a variety of circumstances when you need to firmly grip upon something for balance or ease of movement. They claim that this product, Get A Grip, attaches to any smooth surface with the use of a powerful suction. It is particularly helpful, they say, in the bathroom where falls can be easily prevented with the assistance of an extra grip. The Get A Grip handle can be attached to the bathtub and be used as an assist to get in and out of the bathtub, or it can be placed beside the toilet to get up or to sit down. This can be useful if you have joint or knee pain, or are elderly and your health is generally not in top shape. It is also a handy precaution for smaller children.

Yes - Very strong grip

I love these! I have a physical disability, with parlysis in 1 leg. Get A Grip is strong enough to hold my weight and not come loose. It is great to be given independence and not worry about falling. I’ve found it remains sticky if I remove it when I don’t use it.

Yes - Handle Stays Secure on the Wall

The Get A Grip handle really does stay secure on a bath or shower wall. It remains secure on the wall, even when with an adult using it for support. So Get A Grip really works the way it says it does.

There are, however, some limitations to the product. The instructions make clear that Get A Grip handles are meant as a *temporary* solution and should be removed when you are finished with them. The directions explicitly warn not to keep the handles permanently attached to the wall. I think many of the problems other have had with this product comes from ignoring this instruction.

The switches that are used to attach and remove the handles require a good amount of force. If someone has frail hands, he or she may not be able to secure and unsecure these switches and will need the help of someone else.

If you keep this in mind, the Get A Grip handle will do the job of helping you get into an out of the tub or shower more safely.

Yes - Works pretty good

I have 2 in my shower and 1 in my husbands shower. I have had them for several years and just added the 2nd to my shower. I have had them through my knee replacement, ankle surgery, back pain, and now hip replacement. I learned the trick to putting them on is to try to avoid the space between the tiles and lock the bottom on 1st and then the top. I make a habit of checking them every Sunday. About 1 every 3rd month I reset them. Most of them time they don’t need to be. Better to be safe then sorry. Worth the money spent.

No - Do Not Rely On

I bought these for my mom so she could grab them in the shower. It would just fall off the wall on their own or when she would grab one.
