I got this as a gift years ago and never used it. I pulled it out when I started a diet different from what my family was eating so I could grill fat-reduced foods. It’s been GREAT – I use it every day – the food cooks quickly because it grills both sides at the same time. I just unclip the two heating trays and throw them in the dishwasher when I am done.

Yes - Especially great for singles

I have owned a single-serving model for a year and use it several times a week. it’s not perfect, but it was certainly worth the $11 I paid for it at Walmart. Especially since I hate to cook.

The cooking times in the manual seem a little too long. For example, I usually don’t cook a salmon fillet for more than about 3 minutes.

This model doesn’t have an automatic cut off so I plug it into a timer plug, just in case I forget to unplug it.

No - We had to switch off when meat was burning

We agree with dj April 2011, we had to switch off when meat was burning, then turn back on when simmered down. It needs a thermostat to control heat. Once we stopped using it, our electricity bill went down too probably due the switching off & on so often.

No - Too Messy, Too Hot
1 star1 star1 star1 star1 star

We recived one as a christmas gift in 2010. We were curious about them but did not want to waste our money on it if it did not work. Well, I followed the directions, and it smoked up the house. The hamburgers were raw in the center and burnt on the outside. The surface of the machine gets so hot you can not touch it to press down on the meat to even them out or compress the burgers. The grill does not come apart and can not be immursed in liqid so cleaning up a greasy, messy, slippery grill is ackward to say the least. We had hoped that we had finally found a suitable substitute for grilling in the winter time, unfortunatly this is not it. We decided to throw it away because we would not wish it’s problems on anyone.

I got this as a gift in 2006 and I have to say it’s one of the best gifts I have received. I use it for just about everything, burgers, hotdogs, chicken, grilled cheese, veggies, and bread. Food is not greasy (unless you add fat) I lost the plastic scraper and the drip tray when I moved, but I still use it, I just place the edge of the grill over the sink and just let it drip there, talk about easy clean up. The grill itself cleans up pretty quickly too. I dropped my grill, the exterior cracked, but I still use it after all these years. Great product for those living in smaller quarters.

Yes - OK, but...

We’ve had a couple of them, one cracked so got a larger grill. After awhile I stopped using it and went back to my cast iron grill pan. Found food with bones in it weren’t handled all that well, the bone stuck up so the grill wouldn’t touch all of the meat. Also, I think some items came out kind of dry. That said, it does the job, just not as well as a good ol’ cast iron grill pan.

Have had this fantastic product for close on 4 years now and it works so well – cooks both sides at the same time; meat or fish can be cooked partially frozen; love the grill stripes! A bit of olive oil sprayed on the non-stick surfaces ensures non-sticking but George – YOU ARE MY HERO ! If I could rate >5, I would !
