Does FoodSaver Really Work?
The FoodSaver Vacuum Food Sealer from Tilia is advertised as a high-tech kitchen product that blesses foods with longer staying power. It works by removing the air surrounding a particular food to be stored, by doing this helping to significantly improve the foods ability to remain fresh while in storage. The FoodSaver Vacuum Food Sealer does not serve an alternative to the well-known of preservation methods of freezing, refrigeration and canning. Users of the Food Saver may make use of pre-sized bags or create one of custom lengths using the in-built roll holder and cutter. FoodSaver has three speed settings, and another to indicate dry and moist foods.
FoodSaver Reviews

Iv totally LOVE my Foodsaver.
There is a short learning curve for cutting the bag material to the correct length, and achieving a good seal, but once mastered, you’ll wonder what you ever did with this appliance! As with any product, take the time to read all instruction materials.
It’s just my husband and me these days, but I can now take advantage of special prices and large-size “family paks” of meats. I simply break the store package into meal- or serving-size portions, seal them up, and pop them in the freezer! AND I don’t have to worry about ruining them with freezer burn if I don’t use them in a “timely” fashion. Things really DO keep WAY longer when vacuum sealed!
I’ve actually had TWO Foodsaver units. The canisters that came with the first one were the old-style, which were poorly designed and would not stay sealed . . . but the sealing unit itself worked very well, until one of the side locking mechanisms broke. However, the new sealing units have been redesigned and do not have this problem. I had no problem spending the $$ on a new unit, as I had gotten my money’s worth out of the original one, and definitely wanted another. The new one works even BETTER, if that’s possible :-)
In the advertising, they make a point of vacuum-sealing cheeses. This feature alone is terrific, since we are cheese-a-holics, and often have several different types of cheese on hand. And we all know how quickly they can turn into hunks of hairy blue yuck. But in a sealed Foodsaver bag, NO MORE science experiments lurking at the back of our cheese keeper!
Sometimes I intentionally cook double batches of dinner entrees, like Stuffed Peppers, Meatloaf and Spaghetti Sauce. They seal up great and keep very well. Freezing the Spaghetti Sauce requires freezing it in an ordinary container first, and then sealing the frozen slab in the bag, but it is super-easy to thaw/reheat for a nearly instant meal!
IF my Foodsaver ever conks out on me (I’ve had it for over 3 years now), I’ll be disappointed, but I won’t hesitate to replace it. It is TRULY one of the FEW products promoted via TV that totally delivers what is promised.
