Does Detail Doctor Really Work?

Stained, bleached, discolored, and faded vehicle surfaces are nightmares of every car owner. While it is not impossible to bring it back to pristine condition, the services needed to get it done cost an arm and a leg. For these car issues, Detail Doctor claims to be an affordable solution. A vehicle surface restorer, Detail Doctor is directly applied to affected areas of the car to instantly return its showroom condition. Just a single wipe of Detail Doctor is said to be needed for restoring color to side mirror covers, removing bleach stains from bumpers, and putting the shine back in headlights. This product works on any surface of the car that is made of vinyl, leather or glass material. This includes parts such as interior dashboards and truck bed liners.

Use with a paintbrush to restore sun faded shutters on our country home. Only remedy to date, short of replacing all shutters.

No - Danger Will Robinson!!

Not only does the product not work, but it is extremely dangerous. I left the wet rag on my leather seats and it burned a whole in my upholstery. Only after did I notice the instructions that this product conducts heat while drying and can spontaneously combust. Really? And this was not in the commercial why? Because I would not have purchased it that’s why. Yes I should have read the instructions. But not reading the instructions should mean that I don’t get the full functionality of the product. Not that my car will catch on fire when I turn my back. I am just thankful that the spontaneous combustion did not spread. But I do now have a hole in my leather seat from where the wet rag met the upholstery. And this is for life. I wish to God I could sue. But I know the small print disclaimer prevents me from doing so.

Now my car stinks like old burned rubber.

No - That Smell

It left white streaks on my leather seats.
It doesn’t matter how you put it on and the odor stayed in my car for over a month, that smelt like hot puke.

Unfortunately it doesn`t last even a couple of weeks. After that, it is faded again.

Yes - Little is Better

The directions say to use a small amount, wipe in a circular motion, then wipe back and forth, then up and down. If you use too much, it will stay tacky for an extended period and dirt will adhere to it until it dries fully… days, maybe. If this is the case, wipe it with isopropyl alcohol to remove the excess, let it dry then reapply.

A second coat can be applied after a week. This time, clean it with Windex or similar, then wipe a thin coat as before.

I used it on a 2003 Avalanche. They are known to have plastic trim (a lot of plastic trim) that deteriorates in the sunlight. So far and after many drive thru car washes, it looks good.

Remember, less is better.

I used one coat on my truck. I left on for 24 hours. It rained the next day and it all washed off!

Yes - It works-so far

It does do what it says. However, be careful. Don’t get it on glass. It smears like oil, hard to get off. Has a very strong scent. Goes a long way.
