Does Cricut Really Work?

Cricut is a portable, electronic cutter that cuts paper into different shapes and sizes. This tool from Provo Craft is perfect for people who are into scrapbooking or those who loves making different types of crafts. Different cartridges may be used for Cricut and create shapes, letters and many other things. It features a pressure dial, allowing you to use different paper types according to your preference. It is portable and you may bring it anywhere. Use it in school or the office to create beautiful designs. The Cricut kit includes cartridges that contain complete alphabet and shape sets, cutting mats, cutting blades, paper-shaping tools, and a storage bag. It does not require a computer or any software.

No - Don't pay retail

If you get one of these, get it on Ebay and don’t pay more than $50. It works but cannot do the detail required for some if it’s own images. Lots of trial and error and frustrating at times. Those who say they love it probably have spent money for other products that make it work a little better. If you don’t have a Gypsy or Design Studio, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. If you have a need to cut out 100 of the same image, it will save time. Most of the images on cartridges are very juvenile and simple. My opinion is that the images cheapen the final product, they are very ~what is the word I am looking for~ grade school.

No - Don't Care About Customers

This the worst company, and bleeds their customers with new machine after machine. They never work as promised, and the cartridges are over priced. Don’t waste your money! There are machines out there that are way better, and allow you to use your own images.

The newest scam is a machine that can operate online, talk about dumb!!!!

Yes - Love my Bugs!!

I have owned 3 Cricut machines in roughly 4 years. All have worked perfectly. I started out with the original (baby) bug and loved it(gave that one to my sister) then decided to buy the expression. I love my E it has been a work horse for several years no problems with it at all. I then decided in April to upgrade to the Anniversary Edition Expression 2.. and I absolutly love it. I did have a problem with the E2 a few months ago and sent it back and the CS was outstanding. They did everything they could to help me. They were kind and friendly. I received my replacment E2 and have had no problems with it at all. I also have the Gypsy and love that too… I currently have over 80 carts and have never had a problem with any of them. [...] I would not hesitate to buy another cricut machine and I reccomend cricuts to all of my scrappy friends.

No - VERY Expensive Paperweight, save your money!!!
1 star1 star1 star1 star1 star

I purchased a Cricut Imagine at the HSN launch of the machine. They promised sooo many things that haven’t even been delivered yet. So many of my friends have had to have their Imagin machine replaced, once, twice, and even more! My machine worked as in turned on, but it definitely does not do what it is supposed to do. The screens are SLOW to load, often times I have to click on the same thing more than once for it actually work. And don’t get me started about their print and cut! My cuts NEVER line up with the printed parts, except on the very small portion at the top of my mat! I can’t print and cut out the full page of cuts. I am lucky if I can get print/cuts on the top 1/3 of the cutting mat. It is a HORRIBLE machine and I seriously wish I had never purchased it. Save yourself some serious cash and go with a Silhouette or Bosskut or ANYTHING but a Cricut!

Well, it does cut, and in truth I have cut some great images on my Cricut Expressions. BUT, and this is a big but, it does not function in the way Provo Craft claims. The machine is incapable of making the intricate cuts shown on many of its own cartridges. It cannot cut a true circle to save its life – they become egg shaped. Cuts are inaccurately placed on the cutting mat. And forget customer service – their philosophy seems to be that since they already have your money, you shouldn’t be bothering them with your petty problems like their machines not working. I was not aware of all the controversy surrounding the Cricut when I bought mine, or I never would have gotten one. And I work at a craft store that sells them! I now tell customers my experiences….I rather lose the sale than have an unhappy customer lose their valuable money. I have since spent a lot of time online researching reviews, first-hand accounts, and legal issues with the cricuts and other cutters. The Cricut is clearly the worse cutter on the market. Yes, it is the cheapest, but that is quality more so than price. I am now saving for the best the market has to offer – the Black Cat Cougar. Though I must say to anyone looking for a cutter, a Gazelle or Pazzles will still seem like a world of improvement if you currently use a Cricut. The other cutters on the market WORK as they claim to work, and most have excellent customer service that wants you to enjoy your cutter’s full potential AFTER you purchase. The same is NOT true for Provo Craft!

Yes - I'm addicted to my Cricut
5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars5 stars

I have been a loyal supporter of Provo Craft for many years – No, I am not a paid employee, although I surely wouldn’t mind – I purchased the first Cricut and was absolutely over joyed with it’s capability then I found DS and and was even more over joyed… later I heard about SCAL and my world truly opened up to all the possibilities available. After purchasing my Expression I heard about MTC – I was even more over-joyed…. then came the lawsuits. The thing is… I love my machines, I have heard that for the money they are the best on the market – I have no problems with my Gypsy, Imagine or E2, either, btw – Although it is not recommended by Provo Craft, I have the right to use my machines as I feel the need – after all I own them – if I want to use a third party software, this is my choosing, it is not going to damage my hardware in the least – I am currently capable of doing so – I have done so in the past and will continue in the future. The lawsuits are a result of Provo Craft covering their own butts, not a reflection of the company’s inconsideration for it’s consumer base. That being said – I am STILL addicted to my Cricut(s)

That’s just my opinion

Yes - Good for newbies, serious crabtree keep looking
3 stars3 stars3 stars3 stars3 stars

The Cricut works well enough for new crafters but will be quickly outgrown. I would recommend it to a person with a limited level of ability or creativity but would strongly caution them to review other cutters that work with 3rd party software before committing to a product they may outgrow quickly. I regret I did not know
