Does Cricut Really Work?

Cricut is a portable, electronic cutter that cuts paper into different shapes and sizes. This tool from Provo Craft is perfect for people who are into scrapbooking or those who loves making different types of crafts. Different cartridges may be used for Cricut and create shapes, letters and many other things. It features a pressure dial, allowing you to use different paper types according to your preference. It is portable and you may bring it anywhere. Use it in school or the office to create beautiful designs. The Cricut kit includes cartridges that contain complete alphabet and shape sets, cutting mats, cutting blades, paper-shaping tools, and a storage bag. It does not require a computer or any software.

Cricut Reviews

No - Cricut does not produce accurate cut

No matter how many times I cut circles…which is a lot, I find they are not perfectly round. Now that Provo Craft keeps us from using Make-the-Cut software, I can’t cut any SVGs or TT fonts. Pathetic way to treat their customers.

No - Too Limiting

This product only works with cartridges that are $90.00 each. Other machines cut more accurately and don’t rely on expensive cartridges. Also the manufacturer of the Cricut can take anything you design without giving you credit or fees. Don’t buy this. Go for Lynx, Ecraft, Siloutte, Gazelle instead.

Yes - Fantastic Product

This product is a fantastic product. It is a “cartridge based” cutting machine. Therefore, there are catridges that need to be purchased for it. These cartridges have tons of different designs and meet the needs of crafters of all ages and abilities. Some of them can be expensive, but a lot of different online retailers sell them and you can find great deals. I have dealt with customer service and have never had a problem with Provo Craft. I always get quick and helpful advice. Yes, there are other cutters out there that work without cartridges. Two of which I DO own and cut with through a “third party software program.” But I fully support and recommend the Provo Craft and Cricut name! Definately a great product!! :)

No - There are better
3 stars3 stars3 stars3 stars3 stars

The Cricut is an ok cutter but on the bottom of list as far as capability. It does not cut circles or shapes to be true shapes. And dealing with Provo Craft is a nightmare. There are other and BETTER cutters on the market for around the same price. And with those cutters you don’t have the expense of the cartridges! So it makes their value far better than the Cricut! When my Cricut no longer works, I will be looking to a better company to deal with. Certainly not Provo Craft!

No - Don't buy this!

This company gives the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. They treated me with insensitivity, did not listen to my needs, tried to cheat me on parts and with false advertising. I’m buying another cutting machine with better features whereby I can use a computer program to design my own cut shapes, and that works on more materials without the idea of cookie cutter ‘carts’ or cartridges. Why pay $80 for a little egg shaped thing to plug into your cutter that has a limited set of designs, high priced, and maybe you only want 1 or two on the thing, plus they take up a lot of room to store them. DON’T buy this product… Get one that you can use with MTC, Funtime or SCAL software for about $70 which is the price of ONE cartridge. You can also buy great designs separately on line and get what YOU want.

Yes - Wonderful & can be affordable

I am not a crafter but I love this machine. My children and I use it for all sorts of school projects and such. It is easy enough even for a 1st grader. I purchased mine at the local craft store and was initially put off by the high price of the cartridges. There are many places online to purchase NEW cartridges inexpensively, usually I pay between $20-$25 each (sometimes as little as $15) which is a lot better than the $90 at the craft store or even the $35 when they are on sale (which is rarely).

Yes - Pretty Good

The Cricut Is a pretty good product. I got mine at a liquidation store for about $150. It had been used but It was still in great shape. I have made a lot of card with It for family and friends. One problem for me Is I use a 3rd party program so I can use the fonts from my Laptop. The Cricut has trouble cutting intricate designs and fonts from my pc using that program unless I make them big. Another thing Is the blade will dull easy. Just like the poster said above the carts are expensive. I usually try to catch them on sale at Hobby Lobby or Michale’s. Overall It’s a pretty good product and I have fun using It.
