Does Coursera Really Work?

Education is expensive. This situation has led many to stop pursuing their studies. On a brighter note, alternative learning systems have been developed to address the problem of costly college fees. One of which is Coursera, an online platform that provides free university level education. This web-based service claims to be an innovator in the field of online education by forging partnerships with prominent universities and other academic institutions. Instead of just hundreds of students, the most a traditional learning environment can accommodate, Coursera’s vision is reaching a larger audience of millions. Programs offered by Coursera are said to be of wide range, covering fields such as Humanities, Mathematics, Social Sciences, and Business, among others. Coursera is known to use teaching strategies that are geared towards learning at a person’s own pace as well as through experiencing interactive ideas in order to reinforce concepts being taught.
