It contains Pur-Cellin Oil, a patented ingredient that helps with the absorption of it active ingredients which are: Vitamins A and E; Lavender, Calendula and Rosemary oils and Chamomile extract. It does not contain any preservative so it is safe to use even for individuals who have sensitive skin. It may also be used as a skin moisturizer or as a bath oil. Bio Oil Reviews

Yes - My surprise
4 stars4 stars4 stars4 stars4 stars

I recently became acquainted with the product by chance. I was at the drug store looking for a scar reduction product and I happend upon the cellin oil.
I hesitated to purchase the product because I thought it would be just another product advertising a miracle cure for scars.
I was surprised when after a few weeks (4) I notced a reduction in the very old scar (over ten yrs old). I also use it on some skin discoloration that I get from occasional break-outs and have seen results as well. I understand that it will require more time but so far I am pleasantly surprised.
I totally recommend it.

Yes - Bio Oil for Scars -- Be patient!

I believe this oil has the potentional to be a “great” conditioning product for any skin ailment. It is not greasy and it “does” absorb quickly and did I mention it smells awesome! But I agree with the first reveiw, it’s a little pricey, but I’m finding out a little bit goes a long way. Also, it is NOT an overnight cure, and will require patience and a commitment to using it as directed — if not more! I love this product and would definatly recommend it. I gave it “4″ because it does take a while to see results.

Yes - Good for your skin and your conscience (Bio Oil)

Advantages: Contains natural oils, proven results

Disadvantages: Takes a long time to see results

Having read a lot about the benefits of using oils on the skin and the fact that a lot of the big companies are going the way of repairing oil formulas, such as Estee Lauders night repair and the decelor ranges of face oils, I thought I’d give a cheaper alternative a go.

I’ve been tempted in the past to give bio-oil a try but had never wanted to make the leap from my trusted creams to something which sounded greasy and not very pleasant to put on my face. The price was also a little off putting as it costs around £8.80 for a 60ml bottle.

I was convinced by the blurb on the back of the packaging which states that the oil is good for dehydrated skin, scarring and uneven skin tone. Occasionally I do suffer breakouts and have marks on my skin for large angry spots which take ages to fade and which I cover up every morning with concealer.

There have been numerous clinical trials done with this oil and it has won many awards for its healing and scar reducing properties.

Some of the ingredients in the oil are Lavender oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Calendula Extract, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Soybean Oil which all have great moisturising and healing properties. The main ingredient seems to be the pur-cellin oil which I guess is that carrier oil for the rest of the ingredients and helps your skin to absorb the nutrients as well as providing a protective barrier on the skin.

Another plus point is that it is completely preservative free and because of the unique composition of the oil, it is almost impossible for microbes to develop within it. This also means that there is a no shelf life for the oil so it will last you a long time.

The instructions state that you should use this twice daily for 3 months for the treatment of scars. I have been using this for about 2 months now but only on a night as I find the combination of the oil and my normal moisturiser too much. I have also been using occasionally as an intense body moisturiser for dry skin on my legs and it has worked a treat.

I have noticed that the dark areas and small scars have definitely faded a lot quicker than I expected, some of the marks have been with me a long time and they are slowly disappearing. It has also greatly helped keep the moisture in my skin and much more plumped up and healthier. It does leave a layer of oil on your skin so those with oiler skins may not like it. I have combination/sensitive skin so it’s not a problem having a little more oil on my face than normal.

This isn’t going to be an overnight cure, it definitely will take some perseverance to see the results but it’s definitely worth it. At first I thought this was a hefty price to pay for a small bottle of oil but I think it’s worth every penny and it’s still cheaper than the big brand alternatives.

On a secondary note, after looking on their website I found that bio-oil also have a Social Responsibility Programme which supports the Look Good….Feel Better programme which is aimed at teaching beauty techniques and providing cosmetics to cancer suffers to help them overcome the side effects of cancer treatment and to help them restore their self image.

They also support the The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town which is the only specialist hospital dedicated exclusively to children in sub-Saharan Africa. The Burns Unit admits over 1000 patients a year, with 80% being younger than six. The company donates to each child discharged from the burns unit a bottle of Bio-Oil as a ‘parting gift’ as they return home.

Summary: An investment for your skin
