Does BackJoy Really Work?

The BackJoy claims to be the solution to back aches.  Describing itself as the world’s first orthotic for backs, the BackJoy Core says it can relieve all types of backaches whether due to pregnancy, sciatica, osteoporosis, lower back pain, shoulder pain, pinched nerve, a sore tailbone and the like.  The BackJoy Core is used by helping to correct your sitting posture by relieving pressure and strain.  It is ergonomic in that when you place it on your seat, it enables you to naturally sit with appropriate posture.  Also, it is orthopedic because it prevents future backaches.  The BackJoy describes itself as a cradle of comfort that also works as a special shock absorber for your back.  This patented product is also endorsed by Dr. Anthony Cardillo, an internal medicine specialist who also works on emergency care.

No - A Complete Waste

I have had this “thing” for over a month. Followed all directions and suggestions. It is a TOTAL waste of money, time & comfort. Much too small; feel every bend and bump on it; got no relief at all..In fact, it brought on a Sciatic attack.

Yes - It does work

I weigh 250 lbs. I had to work with it the first couple of days to get it right. When it’s right you can hardly tell it’s doing anything until you reach where your lower back is to the chair back & that there is a space under your rump. It improved my back pain after 8 hours of sitting. Sometimes my left thigh hangs over & that gets uncomfortable. So I use it intermittently throughout the day now & it still works.

No - Too small for overweight people

I am 5’7″ and weigh 260 pounds. I wear a size 20 pants. I bought the thing and wondered where the support was. It came in an LARGE ENVELOPE. it was only about one foot wide and not over 18″ from seat area to backrest area. I couldn’t get it to work because it was so small and lightweight I more or less squished it and couldn’t position it where my butt would fit in the recessed seat area plus since it was so small the backrest for the small of the back to tip your hips was underneath my bottom. The only way my hips would tilt was if I consciously did it myself The product felt like it was a flattened thin pad. I sent it back.

I’ve had my backJoy for 5 years. I find the most help is on long car trips and anytime I sit for a long time. I do not have a back ache after hours of sitting, I do recommend it.

No - No difference

My Mother-In-Law gave this to us – tried it as I spend a lot (too much) time sitting – working in an office all day, and then working on a course most nights. Used this thing for a few weeks, and noticed no difference whatsoever.
